Racetronix W4-series v-band clamps and flanges are manufactured using AISI 304 stainless steel for the clamp, bridge, spacer and trunnions. The t-bolt and nylon locknut (Nylock) are A2 AISI 304 stainless steel. The 100% stainless steel construction provides a high degree of corrosion resistance and clamping strength.

V-band clamps allow for a fast, safe and secure joint between two mating surfaces equipped with appropriate flanges by applying high torque and sealing pressure between the flange joints. V-band clamps are designed to function reliably under conditions involving corrosion, stress and vibration.

Sealing principle

As torque is applied to the nut of the coupling; the retainer applies an inward radial force compressing the flange together. The retainer applies a uniform and equal closing force around the entire circumference of the flange during and after tightening. Once tightened, friction between the flanges and V-retainer actually helps reduce the load on the bolt and clamp. The flange and foot clearance must be maintained to prevent the retainer from bottoming out on the flanges before the necessary loading has been reached.
