per EACH (USD)Bulkhead Stud, 6 mm PTFE (Teflon) / FKM (Viton), Stainless Steel
A sealed, insulated 6 mm power pass-through for fuel housings and tanks, compatible with all fuels.
The BHS-6MSS is a 6 mm stainless steel bulkhead stud that passes electrical power through the wall of a fuel housing or tank. PTFE (Teflon) insulators keep the stud electrically isolated from the wall, and FKM (Viton) O-rings seal it against fuel and vapour. It is the power stud used on Racetronix RXP-LE in-line fuel pumps.
Key features
- PTFE (Teflon) insulators isolate the stud from the housing and won’t break down in fuel.
- FKM (Viton) O-ring seals hold a fuel-tight seal in gasoline and ethanol blends.
- Stainless steel hardware for corrosion resistance.
- Compatible with all fuels, including E85.
- Proven in Racetronix pumps: the same stud used on the RXP255LE, RXP450LE and RXP525LE.

Installation tips
The stepped portion of each PTFE insulator is sized to fit fairly thick material. On a thinner wall, the two insulator halves can touch each other inside the hole before the O-rings are compressed, so the stud won’t seal. This is normal and easy to fix; the stud is designed to be fitted this way.
- Prepare the mounting surface. Both sides must be clean, flat and free of rust and pitting so the O-rings have a good surface to seal against.
- Test-fit the stud. Assemble the two insulator halves through the hole and check that the O-rings are being compressed before the halves meet.
- Shorten the step if needed. If the halves touch first, place light-grit sandpaper on a confirmed flat surface and sand the end face of the stepped portion of the insulator evenly. Remove a little at a time and re-check until the O-rings get a decent amount of crush when the halves are brought together.
- Grease the O-rings. Apply a light coat of dielectric silicone grease to the O-rings before final assembly.
- Tighten the stud until the O-rings are firmly compressed against both sides of the wall.
Frequently asked questions
What is the BHS-6MSS used for?
It carries power through the wall of a fuel housing or tank while keeping the joint sealed and electrically insulated. It is the power stud used on our RXP255LE, RXP450LE and RXP525LE in-line pumps, and is sold separately as a replacement or for custom builds.
What fuels is it compatible with?
All common fuels, including gasoline, E85 and other ethanol blends. The insulators are PTFE (Teflon), the O-ring seals are FKM (Viton) and the hardware is stainless steel.
Why PTFE and FKM?
PTFE is chemically inert and an excellent electrical insulator, so it won’t swell or break down in fuel. FKM (Viton) O-rings hold their seal in gasoline and ethanol blends where ordinary rubber seals degrade.
Can I use it to replace a stud on my RXP-LE pump?
Yes. It is the same stud used on all three RXP-LE pumps, which use two studs (+ and -) on the outlet end.
My stud doesn’t seal. Is it the wrong part for my panel?
Almost certainly not. On thinner material, the stepped ends of the two PTFE insulators can meet inside the hole before the O-rings compress. Sand a little off the end face of the stepped portion on a flat surface with light-grit sandpaper until the O-rings get a decent amount of crush. See Installation tips above.
Do I need any sealant?
No sealant is needed; the FKM O-rings do the sealing. We recommend a light coat of dielectric silicone grease on the O-rings, and the mounting surface must be clean and free of rust and pitting.
