C5 Fuel Pump Wiring Kit
Complete Fuel Pump Wiring Kit | Corvette C5 1997-2003
Item #: FPWK-052
Product Overview
The Racetronix FPWK-052 is the definitive electrical upgrade system for the 1997-2003 C5 Corvette.
Why do you need this upgrade? Think of your fuel system like a high-powered car audio amplifier: you wouldn't power a massive subwoofer with the thin wiring intended for a factory radio. Factory fuel pump wiring is engineered only for the modest current draw of a stock pump. Modern, high-performance fuel pumps can draw double—or triple—the current of the original unit. Exceeding the capacity of the stock wiring leads to significant voltage drop, melted bulkhead connectors, and premature pump failure, preventing the pump from ever reaching its rated performance potential.
This kit fundamentally re-engineers power and ground delivery. By repurposing factory ground circuits into a dual-positive feed, we effectively double the current-carrying capacity through the bulkhead, ensuring your pump operates at its full rated capacity without taxing the vehicle's electrical system. This kit is featured as a component of our RFPK-055-255 fuel pump system.

Engineering Advantage
- Current Capacity: System doubles current-carrying capacity upwards of 28 amps.
- Precision Ultrasonic Termination: Main 10AWG power feed utilizes an ultrasonic splice to transition into a dual-path 14AWG configuration at the bulkhead, maximizing current handling while minimizing resistance.
- Voltage Booster Ready: Includes an intermediate high-current (30A) connector for plug & play integration of pump voltage boosters.
- In-Tank Redundancy: The ITWH-055 harness is engineered to recombine the two positive bulkhead feeds into a single high-current supply and provides redundant negative grounds, ensuring reliable pump operation.
- Dual-Positive Bulkhead: Repurposes factory ground path as a secondary positive feed to eliminate the Metri-Pack 150 terminal bottleneck.
- Perimeter Grounding: Relocates ground current from the bulkhead to the stainless steel hat's perimeter bolts, utilizing the module's mass as a high-current bus.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I use this harness to power two fuel pumps?
A: No. This harness is engineered exclusively for a single high-performance fuel pump. Attempting to power dual pumps with this system will exceed the harness's current and thermal rating. Furthermore, running two in-tank pumps creates excessive electrical load and heat soak, which can cause fuel cavitation and boiling within the module, leading to severe pressure drop and potential pump failure. If your project requires dual pumps, please contact us for our dedicated dual-pump wiring solutions.
Q: Does this harness fix issues with my factory fuel pump electrical circuit?
A: No. This system relies on your existing factory fuel pump circuit to provide the signal that triggers the harness relay. If your factory circuit is already compromised—a common issue in Corvettes where relay terminals in the under-hood electrical center melt—this harness will not resolve that failure. However, we do have a procedure to power this harness directly from the factory PCM, bypassing failed factory components. Please visit our Support Forum or contact us via email for instructions on this bypass.
Q: Can I install just the external harness without the in-tank component?
A: No. This is a complete system. The FPWH-052HD repurposes the factory ground path as a second positive feed. If you do not use our ITWH-055 in-tank harness to properly manage these positive feeds and provide redundant grounds, you will ground the positive supply inside the tank, resulting in an immediate blown fuse.
Q: What happens if the BCA-4W retention clip is misaligned?
A: The BCA-4W connector must be oriented correctly. The center map features E-B-D-C letter designations that must align with the in-tank harness. If installed 180° out of phase, the terminals will not match, causing pump failure or electrical damage upon power-up.
Q: Why is the original Delphi module required?
A: Original Delphi bulkhead connectors are vacuum-impregnated to seal under pressure. Furthermore, factory modules feature essential spot-welded ground tabs on the underside of the stainless steel hat required for our ITWH-055 harness. Aftermarket units often lack these tabs and utilize inferior sealing methods. Please email us with photos if you are unsure of your module's authenticity.
