A Walbro 450 (F90000274) E85 pump sealed inside a billet T6 aluminum housing, ready to plumb in-line with AN fittings.
The Racetronix RXP450LE is a quiet, reliable in-line (external) fuel pump for gasoline and E85. Our patent-pending design seals a genuine Walbro / TI Automotive F90000274 turbine pump inside a black-anodized billet T6 aluminum housing with large AN ports, so you get the flow and pressure capability of an in-tank DCSS pump in a compact, bolt-on package.
Walbro’s DCSS design holds its fuel volume at higher pressures and temperatures than most high-performance pumps. The pump’s integral check valve holds fuel in the line so the pump stays primed and pressure holds after shutdown for quicker starts. It also stops fuel from back-feeding through an idle pump, so two or more pumps can run in parallel or staged. Its high-pressure safety bypass valve stays fully functional inside the housing, protecting the system if a line is kinked or a regulator sticks.
Key features
- Genuine Walbro / TI Automotive F90000274 pump with integral check valve, E85 compatible and field-serviceable.
- Billet T6 aluminum housing and mounting bracket, black anodized. The bracket has recessed screw holes and mounts from the top or the underside, with a rubber isolation strip.
- Large -10 AN ORB inlet to feed the pump without restriction, plus a -8 AN ORB outlet.
- Air-bleed / primer port beside the inlet, so air can be purged from the feed line and housing.
- Sealed 6 mm stainless power studs with PTFE (Teflon) insulators and Viton GF-600S (FKM) O-rings (BHS-6MSS). No flying leads.
- Quieter operation. The housing isolates and dampens noise from the pump.
- Fuel-safe materials throughout: stainless steel hardware, PTFE insulators and Viton GF-600S (FKM) O-rings.

Flow and current draw
| Fuel pressure | Flow | Current draw |
|---|---|---|
| 43.5 PSI (3 bar) | 427 LPH (113 GPH) | 15.8 A |
| 58 PSI (4 bar) | 391 LPH (103 GPH) | 17.1 A |

Flow and current are typical 13.5 V values from TI Automotive’s published F90000274 curve. Actual results vary with voltage, fuel, temperature and plumbing.
Which RXP-LE pump is right for you?
All three RXP-LE pumps share the same housing, ports and mounting. They differ only in the pump inside.
| Model | Internal pump | Flow @ 58 PSI | Current @ 58 PSI | Horsepower (NA, 60 PSI) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| RXP255LE | Racetronix RXP-255E2 | 225 LPH | 10 A | 550+ |
| RXP450LE | Walbro F90000274 | 391 LPH | 17.1 A | 750+ |
| RXP525LE | Walbro F90000285 | 429 LPH | 18.7 A | 900+ |
Installation requirements
Skipping any of these will reduce flow and shorten pump life, and can damage the pump.
- Gravity feed only. Mount the pump below the tank outlet so fuel flows to it on its own. A turbine pump cannot pull fuel up to itself and will lose its prime.
- Pre-filter (inlet): 30 micron or finer. The pump has no in-tank sock, so this filter is all that protects it. Use a large element; an undersized filter on the suction side starves the pump.
- Post-filter (outlet): 10 micron or finer to protect your injectors and engine.
- Feed (inlet) line: -8 minimum, -10 recommended. PTFE-lined hose.
- Outlet line: -8 minimum, -8 recommended. A -6 outlet line will work but noticeably restricts this pump.
- Upgraded wiring. Power the pump through a dedicated relay harness such as the FPWH-009HD. Factory pump wiring is not adequate for this current draw.
- Bleed before first start. Use the bleed port to purge air from the feed line and housing before the pump runs.
Dimensions in millimetres (inches). Same housing for RXP255LE, RXP450LE and RXP525LE.

Frequently asked questions
Can I mount the pump above the fuel tank?
No. The pump must be gravity fed: mount it below the tank outlet so the feed line stays full of fuel. A turbine pump cannot draw fuel up a dry line, and running it without fuel will damage it.
Do I really need both a pre-filter and a post-filter?
Yes. The pre-filter (30 micron or finer) is the only thing protecting the pump from debris, because there is no in-tank sock. The post-filter (10 micron or finer) protects your injectors. Use generously sized elements; a small, fine pre-filter restricts the suction side and starves the pump.
What size fuel lines do I need?
Use -10 PTFE-lined hose on the feed side (-8 minimum) and -8 on the outlet (-8 minimum). Undersized lines reduce flow and make the pump work harder.
How do I prime the pump?
Use the bleed port beside the inlet to purge air from the feed line and housing before the pump runs. Do this on first installation and any time the feed line has been opened.
Which wiring harness should I use?
We recommend the FPWH-009HD universal HD relay harness. The RXP450LE draws about 17.1 A at 58 PSI, which is more than most factory pump circuits are designed to carry.
Can I run two pumps?
Yes. Each pump’s integral check valve stops fuel from back-feeding through the other pump, so two or more RXP-LE pumps can run in parallel, either together or staged with the second pump switched on under boost or high load.
Should I use a voltage booster?
Racetronix recommends an alternator voltage booster for all of its fuel pump systems. In-line pump boosters such as the Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump are not recommended.
Is the safety bypass valve still functional inside the housing?
Yes. The housing is designed so the pump’s high-pressure bypass valve stays fully functional. If a line is kinked or a regulator sticks, the valve opens and recirculates fuel inside the housing instead of over-pressurizing the system.
Can the internal pump be replaced?
Yes. The pump is field-serviceable, and the Walbro F90000274 is sold separately.
Which RXP-LE pump should I choose?
Compare the flow you need at your base pressure in the table above. Most modern EFI systems run 58 PSI (4 bar). Plan on a 20–25% safety margin between what your engine needs and what the pump delivers.
Is the pump covered by a warranty?
The internal Walbro pump is not covered. TI Automotive (Walbro) does not warranty its high-performance pumps, and Racetronix cannot offer a warranty on them either. See the warranty section below.
Warranty
Racetronix does not provide a warranty on Walbro pumps. TI Automotive (Walbro) sells its high-performance pumps without warranty.
